WNE's main objective is to preserve open wilderness space.
We feel that preserving this space for "nature to flourish" is a key component to a healthy New England environment. Equally important is providing well-managed but limited recreational opportunities. We feel that wilderness recreation is a key component to a healthy human "spirit". Anyone who has experienced the sights and sounds of wilderness can attest to its wonder.
Have you ever seen the millions of visible stars on a cool, clear evening without the distraction of artificial light?
Have you ever heard the wing-beat of a red tailed hawk in flight 60 meters away?
Have you ever observed moose "playing tag" on the shore of a beaver pond at dusk?
Have you ever experienced the absolute silence of a windless, mid-winter snow storm with large, fluffy flakes?
Time spent in the wilderness is amazing!
There are many ways that you can help! WNE is willing to consider almost any donation of time (volunteerism), goods (canoes, kyaks, hiking/camping equipment, etc.) and philanthropic scenarios.
Help us to help preserve Wilderness in New England !
