Challenges & Competitions

WNE is pleased to announce the high school
WNE High School Construction Competition!

For the school year, New Hampshire high schools with design and construction capabilities are encouraged to participate in this program.

Challenge:
Design and construct a 16' X 16' self-contained (off-the-grid) "cabin" (

Format:
Each participating school will enroll in the challenge before September 30 and submit a "blue print" of the design by November 30. Cabin evaluation and assembly/disassembly demonstration dates will be announced March 10.

A panel of judges will evaluate the architecture (practicality/usefulness of the design and use of "green" materials), engineering (stability/strength/assembly protocol and life expectancy) and wilderness theme (including an appearance that "blends" into wilderness and self-contained sustainability).

All participants will receive certificates of participation and appropriate scholastic recognition, including credits. Winner(s) will receive awards, scholarships and school grants (amounts to be determined) and continued recognition by placing their "cabin" into service at a WNE property.
